A Giants and Cowboys clash is always something special. This year, NFL fans will get a taste of that rivalry with the Giants and Cowboys match up on Wednesday.
One of the things to watch for during the game will be the Hakeem Nicks situation. Nicks has been under the spotlight given his right foot injury.
The fact that he did not practice led to some speculation people around the Giants camp to suggest that Nicks could be headed for the sidelines in the season opener.
As reported by CBS Sports; Nicks was benched during practice for precautionary reasons. Coach Coughlin reassured reporters that despite Nicks he was still being considered as a starter. The final starting roster would be released on Tuesday.
Hakeem Nicks was more direct when questioned regarding his injury. “I’m playing,” Nicks said as reporters gathered around his locker. “You don’t have to ask me no questions. I’m playing.” It sounds like with that statement, the Nicks-Cruz duo will be playing in the season opener, so good sign for those who may have drafted him in their fantasy football league pool. We will have to see after week one of this injury to Nicks will have any long term effect. If Hicks is able to pull it together like last year he could be a good 2nd round pick for your fantasy league pool.
The Giants, who are coming off a Super Bowl victory, will have to prove to some people that last year was not a fluke. That’s right. I’ve heard many NFL experts on sports shows say that the Giants may not have goods to even make it to the playoffs. The Giants organization has the offensive and defensive tools to put the skeptics to rest; baring any substantial injuries.
